5 Classes (Thursday nights July 10, 17, 24, 31, and Aug 7) Taught remotely over Zoom. Each participant will get a link to a recording of the class that will expire after a week, so not all classes need to be attended in person. Each class is 2 hours.

This course seeks to bridge the gap between the philosophy, the psychology, and the material practice of BDSM. Why do you want to be spanked? How can you bully someone in a sexy way? Is being restrained always a punishment? We are complex creatures and so it makes sense that our sexual desires are drawn from a wide range of influence, including the dark and painful. We'll look at historical texts and multi-media representations of the lifestyle in order to delve deeper into the perverse and personal.

There will be optional reading & journal assignments (short) and a syllabus for further study included.

Life is Pain will have a 10 student minimum, 25 student maximum. If the 10 student minimum is not reached, ticket holders will be refunded and the class will not go forward (we'll try again another time)

About the Educator:
Lizxnn Cobalt Chrome is a witch, an artist, and a sex educator living in New Orleans. She writes about sex, relationships, and sex toys on her blog Idols of Sheela. Lizxnn is mostly interested in thinking about what makes people tick and what the best ways are to talk about getting weird. Passionate about sex toys, the best way to get her talking is asking her opinion on any particular toy or new sex study.
